Additional Info: Maddy Aldis-Evans was born in Leicester, England in 1971. She studied Oboe performance and composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire obtaining a BA (Hons) degree and winning the BA Course prize in 1992 and ABRSM (merit) in Composition in 1991. She was also awarded the college prize for Orchestral Composition, and the college Sinfonia, conducted by Andrew Mogrelia, premiered her “Four pieces for orchestra”.
Maddy continued her studies at the Royal Northern College of music where she gained a post-graduate diploma in advanced performance and Composition studying Oboe with Jonathon Small (Principal Oboe RLPO) and composition with Dr. Anthony Gilbert. “Claudia” for chamber ensemble was performed at the college and Maddy was awarded the Rawsthorn Prize for composition.
Maddy has worked extensively in schools and for music centres as an oboe teacher, double reed teacher and woodwind teacher. Further she founded and ran the Bolton Youth Double Reed Ensemble and has organised and worked in orchestral educational outreach programmes, including being a founding member of "Philharmini" - the educational outreach programme at the Anhaltisches Theater, Dessau.
Maddy is currently the teacher of oboe at Abingdon School.
Also premiered in 2006 in Dessau was Maddy’s moral tale for children “The witch’s cat
